The Vitara Brezza, launched in 2016, marked Maruti’s first domestically conceived, designed, and developed car. Positioned in the competitive sub-4m SUV segment, it successfully competed against rivals like Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet. Garnering consistent sales and securing a spot in the top 10 monthly charts, it has sold over 750,000 units.

In 2022, Maruti introduced an updated version of the SUV, simply named the ‘Brezza.’ While dropping the ‘Vitara’ from its name, the new Brezza showcases numerous enhancements. It features the K15C DualJet petrol engine with Smart Hybrid technology, offering improved fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor. Additionally, the Brezza incorporates the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox from the XL6, along with newly added features like a sunroof and 360-degree camera

Maruti Suzuki Brezza 2023 Variants & Price
The pricing of the new 2023 Brezza has surprised many in the Indian market. Unlike its predecessor, Maruti has not undercut the competition with its pricing strategy. The top-end automatic variant (ZXI+ AT) is priced at Rs. 13.80 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the costliest petrol car in the segment. In comparison, the Hyundai Venue SX(O) and Kia Sonet GTX+ with similar engine and gearbox options are priced lower. It’s worth noting that while the Brezza is available only with a petrol engine, its competitors offer the additional option of a diesel engine.
2023 Brezza: Revamped Design and Styling.
The 2023 Brezza showcases a fresh design direction compared to its predecessor. While the Vitara Brezza had a more upright and boxy appearance, the new Brezza adopts a rounded and sculpted look. The inclusion of additional body creases adds a sense of muscularity and size. Notable exterior features include 16-inch alloy wheels, dual LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail-lamps, and roof rails. The color options include six monotone choices such as Sizzling Red, Brave Khaki, Exuberant Blue, Magma Grey, Splendid Silver, and Pearl Arctic White. Additionally, there are dual-tone options available, such as Sizzling Red with Midnight Black roof, Splendid Silver with Midnight Black roof, and Brave Khaki with Arctic White roof. Overall, the new Brezza’s design is likely to appeal to existing Vitara Brezza owners.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza 2023 Build Quality, Fit & Finish
The 2023 Maruti Brezza shares its Global C-platform with the previous model but features all-new body panels. The panels have some flexibility when pressed with a thumb, and the overall build quality feels average. In certain areas like the tailgate, the panel gaps were inconsistent. However, the car feels reasonably solid without being flimsy or tinny. The paint quality, on the other hand, is deemed average and not exceptional.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza 2023 Safety
The 2022 Brezza boasts over 20 safety features, including 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, a 360-degree camera system, and ISOFIX. The top-end ZXI+ variant also offers Suzuki Connect, which provides safety features like geofencing, stolen vehicle notification and tracking, emergency alerts, and more.

While official crash test ratings for the new Brezza are pending, it’s worth noting that the previous Vitara Brezza achieved a 4-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests. The bodyshell of the Vitara Brezza was deemed stable and capable of withstanding further loading. Given the added safety features in the 2022 Brezza, similar or even better results can be anticipated.
